Special Education

Special Education And Instruction

Special education is an instruction that is modified or particularized for those students with special needs, such as learning differences, mental health problems, specific disabilities (physical or developmental), and giftedness. They can be simply described as “An intelligent mind caught in a disobedient body”.

Modifications consist of changes in curriculum, supplementary aides or equipment, and the provision of specialized facilities that allow students to participate in the educational environment to the fullest extent possible.

Out of 6 days, special education is taught everyday & other than that occupational therapy, speech therapy, behavior therapy, cognitive therapy, physiotherapy, developmental therapy, sensory integration, etc. are provided on specific days of the week i.e., each therapy is given almost for twice in a week, depending upon the child’s condition & needs.

Goals are chosen by the families through the annual or biannual meetings where families and staff members talk together about current concerns, as well as celebrating achievements. We, along with the parents / care takers of the children, choose goals & try to achieve those goals within time.

Special education is an educational framework meticulously tailored to cater to the specific and diverse learning needs or disabilities of students. Its fundamental purpose is to furnish individualized instruction and a spectrum of support services meticulously crafted to unlock the full educational potential of each student, regardless of their unique challenges or abilities. By personalizing learning experiences, special education endeavors to ensure that every student can access, engage with, and excel within the educational system, fostering not only academic growth but also promoting inclusivity and equitable opportunities for all.

Seating And Positioning

For children who use wheelchairs, proper seating and positioning equals a more comfortable day. Our occupational and physical therapists work to make sure a child’s seating and positioning is appropriate and as comfortable as possible. Proper seating / positioning increases a child’s ability to access and interact with his or her environment.

Developmental Therapy

Our developmental therapists create learning environments and activities to promote skills in all areas of a child’s development. Therapists also show the parents, the techniques for behaviour management and modelling within the context of everyday experiences and environments.
